Rover Tracks Heavy-Duty Tie Rod and
Drag Link Installation Instructions

Tie Rod Installation
To Install the Heavy Duty Tie rod you will need to replace the passenger side (Left Hand Drive) Right Hand Thread Tie Rod End with a Left hand threads Tie Rod End. This is not required on the Defender.
1. Remove the Steering Damper from the Differential and discard.
2. Make a careful measurement from the center of one tie rod end to the other and record this measurement. It is best to measure from the tie rod bolts. Remove the Factory Tie rod from the steering arms as a complete unit.
3. Remove one tie rod end from the factory tie rod and thread the supplied jam nut onto it all the way. Or use a new end . These will be the right hand thread ends.
4. Take the new Left Hand Thread tie rod end and screw the other jam nut onto it’s threads fully.
5. Screw both ends into the Tie Rod fully.
6. Put the new Tie Rod in place in the steering arms and Snug the tie rod end nuts.
7. Turn the Tie Rod counter clockwise while measuring from center to center of the tie rod ends.
8. Once the measurement is the same as the factory tie rod stop and snug the Jam nuts.
9. If the New tie Rod is of the high Clearance variety the hump in the tie rod should point up. Depending on where it stops, towards the front or rear of the vehicle it should be adjusted the direction that has the least effect on the tie rod center-to-center measurement.
